Where it fits. Thermoplastic polyurethane is the general-purpose upgrade tread. It is non-marking, resists oils and most mild chemicals, and carries more load than rubber at the same diameter without the noise of a hard tread. TPU holds its shape under sustained static load, so carts parked loaded overnight are less prone to flat spots.
Construction. The tread is molded to a polypropylene core. Hub width is 1-3/8″. A plain bore bearing carries the load.
Load and duty. The 360 lb rating is per wheel. Standard practice is to size a four-wheel set assuming three wheels carry the load, so this wheel supports roughly a 1,050 lb cart with margin for shock loading and uneven floors. Continuous operating range is -30°F to 140°F.
