Where it fits. Polypropylene is the economical workhorse tread. It will not rust, corrode, or absorb water, it resists most cleaning chemicals, and its hard surface rolls with very little effort. Hard treads transmit floor irregularity and noise, so specify polypropylene where floors are smooth and quiet operation is not the priority.
Construction. This is a solid polypropylene wheel with no separate core. Hub width is 1-5/8″. A plain bore bearing carries the load.
Load and duty. The 500 lb rating is per wheel. Standard practice is to size a four-wheel set assuming three wheels carry the load, so this wheel supports roughly a 1,500 lb cart with margin for shock loading and uneven floors. Continuous operating range is -20°F to 190°F.
