Where it fits. Thermoplastic polyurethane is the general-purpose upgrade tread. It is non-marking, resists oils and most mild chemicals, and carries more load than rubber at the same diameter without the noise of a hard tread. TPU holds its shape under sustained static load, so carts parked loaded overnight are less prone to flat spots.
Construction. The tread is molded to an aluminum core. Hub width is 2-1/2″. A 1/2″ steel dual precision bearing fits a 1/2″ axle.
Load and duty. The 700 lb rating is per wheel. Standard practice is to size a four-wheel set assuming three wheels carry the load, so this wheel supports roughly a 2,100 lb cart with margin for shock loading and uneven floors. Continuous operating range is -30°F to 140°F.
